Shane has built his own legacy in both wrestling and business. Starting in WWE at age 15, he worked in the warehouse and later became a referee, producer, announcer, and wrestler. He served as WWE’s Executive Vice President of Global Media. As a wrestler, he won the European Championship, Hardcore Championship, SmackDown Tag Team Championship, and the WWE World Cup. In 2004, he founded Seven Stars Cloud Group, now Ideanomics, where he is the executive chairman. He resigned from WWE in 2009 and became CEO of YOU On Demand. He stepped down as CEO in 2013 but remained involved until 2021. Shane returned to WWE in 2016 and made sporadic appearances until WrestleMania 39. He owns minority shares in WWE and was a part-owner of Indian Larry Motorcycle Shop in Brooklyn, New York. He also has been involved with the Make-A-Wish Foundation through WWE.
