He is the creator of the Disney Channel and Disney XD animated series Gravity Falls, where he also voiced several characters like Grunkle Stan, Soos Ramirez, and Bill Cipher. Gravity Falls has received BAFTA and Annie Awards. Hirsch’s career began as a writer and storyboard artist for The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack on Cartoon Network, working alongside J. G. Quintel and Pendleton Ward. He also co-developed the pilot for Fish Hooks. In 2016, he co-authored ‘Gravity Falls: Journal 3,’ a No. 1 New York Times Best Seller. In 2018, he wrote ‘Gravity Falls: Lost Legends,’ which also made The New York Times Best Seller list. In 2024, Hirsch wrote The Book of Bill, which appeared on the Amazon and New York Times Best Seller’s list. In August 2018, Hirsch signed a multi-year deal with Netflix and is currently developing an adult animated series. He also co-executive produced the series Inside Job.
