Ariana DeBose (born January 25, 1991) is an American actress, dancer, and singer. She began her career in 2009 as a contestant on ‘So You Think You Can Dance’. She then made her Broadway debut in Bring It On: The Musical in 2011 and continued her work on Broadway with roles in Motown: The Musical (2013) and Pippin (2014). From 2015 to 2016, she originated the role of The Bullet in Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical Hamilton. In 2021, DeBose reached a new level of stardom and acclaim when she played the role of Anita in Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the musical ‘West Side Story,’ for which she earned an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress. Ariana is also known for Schmigadoon! (2021–2023), Wish (2023), I.S.S. and Argylle (2024). DeBose hosted the Tony Awards ceremony in 2022, 2023, and 2024.
