In Gran Torino, she played the older sister of Thao Vang Lor, portrayed by Bee Vang, and her performance was praised for its authenticity and depth. Following her debut, Ahney appeared in the action-comedy Night Club (2011) as Nikki. She also had a minor role in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016), credited as Whitney Yang. Besides acting, Ahney Her is also an activist and advocate for the Hmong American community.
