Gary Wayne Coleman (February 8, 1968 – May 28, 2010) was an American actor, best known for his role as Arnold Jackson in the sitcom Diff’rent Strokes (1978–1986). His catchphrase, “Whatchoo talkin’ ’bout, Willis?” became a popular cultural reference. Due to a congenital kidney disease called nephritis and the medications used to treat it, Coleman’s growth was stunted, and he remained 4 feet 8 inches tall. Coleman’s career took off at a young age, and he became one of the highest-paid child actors of the late 1970s and 1980s. However, he faced financial struggles later in life, including a lawsuit against his parents for misappropriating his earnings. He also worked various odd jobs, including as a security guard. Coleman struggled with depression and had legal issues throughout his life. He died at the age of 42 due to an intracranial hemorrhage.
