In 2016, she portrayed Katherine Johnson in “Hidden Figures.” Henson’s television career includes co-starring in the CBS drama series “Person of Interest” (2011-2013) and starring as Cookie Lyon in the Fox drama series “Empire” (2015-2020), for which she won a Golden Globe Award. Time named Henson one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2016. She released her autobiography, “Around the Way Girl,” the same year. Henson received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2019. She has also produced and hosted holiday specials for Fox and starred in films such as “Proud Mary” (2018) and “What Men Want” (2019). Henson founded The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation, committed to challenging the perception of mental illness in the African American community.
