Jon Anderson, born John Roy Anderson on October 25, 1944, in Accrington, Lancashire, England, is a British and American singer, songwriter, and musician. He is best known as the former lead singer of the progressive rock band Yes, which he co-founded in 1968. Renowned for his distinctive high-tenor voice and spiritual lyrics, Anderson was a key member of Yes across three tenures until 2004. He also participated in Yes-related projects such as Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe and Yes Featuring Jon Anderson, Trevor Rabin, Rick Wakeman. Anderson’s musical journey began in the 1960s, and before Yes, he performed with The Warriors. His career extends beyond Yes with collaborations with artists like Vangelis (as Jon and Vangelis), Roine Stolt, and Jean-Luc Ponty. He has also appeared on albums by other bands and released numerous solo albums. Anderson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2017 as a member of Yes.
