Christiane Amanpour is a highly respected British-Iranian journalist and television host, renowned for her fearless reporting style and in-depth interviews with global leaders. Born in London on January 12, 1958, she was raised in Tehran until the age of 11 before returning to England for schooling. She graduated from the University of Rhode Island with a degree in journalism. Amanpour began her career at CNN as an entry-level assistant and rose through the ranks to become the Chief International Anchor. She has also hosted programs on PBS and ABC. Amanpour is known for her coverage of major international crises and conflict zones, including the Persian Gulf War, the Bosnian War, and conflicts in Afghanistan, Rwanda, and the Balkans. She has earned numerous awards for her work, including Peabody Awards and Emmy Awards. She was married to James Rubin, a former US Assistant Secretary of State, from 1998 to 2018, and they have a son. She is also a Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (CBE).
