David Drew Pinsky (born September 4, 1958), most famously known as Dr. Drew, is an American media personality, board-certified internist, and addiction medicine specialist. He’s well known for his roles in various television and radio productions. He hosted the nationally syndicated radio talk show Loveline from 1984 until 2016. On television, he hosted the talk show Dr. Drew On Call on HLN and the daytime series Lifechangers on The CW. In addition, he served as producer and starred in the VH1 show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew, and its spinoffs Sex Rehab with Dr. Drew, Celebrity Rehab Presents Sober House. Pinsky currently hosts several podcasts, including Ask Dr. Drew, The Dr. Drew Podcast, and Dr. Drew After Dark. He received his undergraduate degree from Amherst College and his M.D. from the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, where he remained for his residency. He then became chief resident at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena and was also an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Dr. Drew is a diplomat of the American Board of Addiction Medicine, the American Board of Internal Medicine and a fellow with the American College of Physicians (FACP).
