Eric Demetric Dickerson, born on September 2, 1960, is an American former professional football running back whose remarkable career in the National Football League (NFL) spanned 11 seasons. He is celebrated as one of the greatest running backs in NFL history. Dickerson’s early football prowess led him to Southern Methodist University, where he earned All-American honors. Drafted by the Los Angeles Rams as the second overall pick in 1983, he quickly made his mark by setting rookie records.
His contributions to the sport have been widely recognized, including his induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1999 and his selection to the NFL 100th Anniversary All-Time Team in 2019.
Throughout his NFL career, Dickerson showcased exceptional talent and durability, amassing over 13,000 rushing yards.
