Michael Kay, born on February 2, 1961, is a highly respected American sports broadcaster. He’s best known as the play-by-play announcer for the New York Yankees on television since 2002, a role he transitioned to after a decade on the radio side. He also hosts ‘Centerstage with Michael Kay’ on the YES Network, and ‘The Michael Kay Show’ on ESPN NY 98.7 FM. Kay began his career in newspapers, starting at the New York Post in 1982 before moving to the New York Daily News in 1989, where he also covered the Yankees. He joined WABC Radio in 1992 as a Yankees broadcaster. He is an Emmy Award-winning broadcaster and has also authored books related to sports. Michael is married to WPIX news anchor Jodi Applegate and they have children together. He is considered an iconic New York sports broadcaster, known for his engaging commentary and in-depth knowledge.
