Peter Jacobsen is an American professional golfer and commentator. Born on March 4, 1954, in Portland, Oregon, he is known as one of golf’s most colorful personalities. Jacobsen played golf at the University of Oregon and turned professional in 1976 after winning the Oregon Open as an amateur. He had a successful career on the PGA Tour, winning seven events, including the Buick-Goodwrench Open, Colonial National Invitation, and Sammy Davis Jr.-Greater Hartford Open. On the Champions Tour, he secured two major victories: the U.S. Senior Open in 2004 and the Ford Senior Players Championship in 2005. Jacobsen was also a member of two Ryder Cup teams in 1985 and 1995. Beyond his playing career, Jacobsen has been involved in broadcasting, serving as a commentator on Golf Channel and NBC. He also owns Peter Jacobsen Sports, an event management company and has designed golf courses such as Brasada Canyons Golf Course. He was also in a musical band in the mid-80s as the guitarist/vocalist with fellow pro golfers Mark Lye and Payne Stewart called Jake Trout & The Flounders.
