Yila Timothy Kang, born on March 16, 1973, is an American actor widely recognized for his role as Kimball Cho on the television series ‘The Mentalist’ and as Detective Gordon Katsumoto in ‘Magnum P.I.’ He was born in San Francisco, California, and is the eldest of three brothers. Tim Kang graduated from the University of California, Berkeley, with a Bachelor of Arts in political science and later earned a Master of Fine Arts from Harvard University’s A.R.T. Institute for Advanced Theater Training. Before dedicating himself to acting, Kang worked in finance.
Kang’s acting career began at the age of 26, and he has since appeared in various television shows and films, including ‘The Sopranos,’ ‘Two Weeks Notice,’ and ‘Rambo’. In 2012, he launched a production company called One Shoot Films. Beyond acting, Tim Kang is a black belt in Taekwondo and is a national spokesman for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, showing his commitment to important social issues.
